The Practice
Dr. Dayton integrates into
his conventional family medical practice what has come to known as
natural, preventive, holistic, nutritional, functional, antiaging-longevity,
complementary and alternative medicine. Perhaps the term ‘integrative
medicine’ best describes this form of health care. Resources from various
systems of health care are selected to be used independently or together
for better safety and effectiveness. For example, in integrative medicine
nutrition, acupuncture and pharmaceutical medication may be used
independently or combination within one visit to address immediate
problems and/or prevent new ones from manifesting. Once regarded as taboo
by the medical mainstream, the integration of different systems health
care is emerging as acceptable practice. Without changing his practice
philosophy in 30 years Dr. Dayton is becoming more mainstream every day.
The Philosophy
In addition to eliminating
signs and symptoms of disease, it is important to address their underlying
causes to maximize quality and duration of health. Treating causes of
disease early to prevent disease from progressing to full blown is
preferable to treating full blown disease. Treating the patient to prevent
disease is preferable to treating disease. Good health is much more than
the absence of symptoms. Life is too dear to be left to chance alone.
